Assignment 1: Ten Web 2.0 Things You Can Do in Ten Minutes

Selecting item #9 from the list I browsed the links to the various websites. The discoveries were serendipitous indeed, ranging to a few semi-applicable news bits on health to porn. Overall, I was not that impressed with the content of the websites, the "information" was mostly unuseful, biased, and inappropriate for my AHy course. The websites listed are unscholarly and of questionable journalistic quality.
I followed the links from the Cohort 1 Laboratory page to the websites and read the headlines. I clicked on a couple links within each website to read the stories from the headlines (I don't believe my job will be in jeopardy from the links I followed :)
The first website, "Engadget" is a tech-geek's playground. It posted info on the latest and greatest tech gadgets and upgrades pertaining to video cards to the earbuds with detachable cords and fake diamond attachments.
The second website is "Metafilter". This website gives the down-low on media, with blog postings on current movies, behind the scenes of older movies, and art.
The "Digg" web-site was much talk about nothing, although entertaining. I followed the link to the "Holy Cheeto" about religious icons located in things such as the shape of a cheeto or in the knot of a tree.
The content on the "Mixx" website seemed to be a one-sided sensationalized view of yesterday's news. A good site if you want to read someone's rant or view photos of faces carved into dinner roles or tan, large chested women.
"Mashable" provides stories about legal issues that pertain to access to media and information via the internet. The authors contributing to Mashable seem to have a similar stance in which all media posted on the web should be free and accessible, despite copyright laws.
Finally, the "Hot Links" website's slogan is "The hottest links on the web". This website provided "information" about movies and links to adult content.
